Seven reasons why I am thankful for my dark and lovely locks!

We can't let this season pass by without listing our reasons why we love our dark and lovely locks so much. No matter what the season is, your hair color has a wonderful contrast, especially in autumn. So why not list the reasons why you are proud of your dark locks? Despite the fact that there are around 70% of people in the US who have dark strands (if you also include those with black hair), our brunette hair shades vary on a wider scale than any other hair color. Anywhere from bronde to black-brown, the various shades of brunette hair are unlimited and truly gorgeous! It is estimated that around 11% of the world’s population has brown hair (not including black) which Europeans and non-semitic middle Eastern people have in common. Beauty is beauty, no matter how common or uncommon your hair shade is. I am thankful I have a beautiful hair shade that goes well with my skin tone and eye color. 3. Dark hair paired with light skin stands out in a crowd.

And brown hair with light skin is truly eye popping. Dark hair + light skin combination may have some appeal in the way they stand out in striking contrast to each other. Only Caucasians and part Caucasians can have this combination of dark hair and light skin. It is a rarer combo and exotic in nature. We are seen as mysterious and exotic. Unlike blonde hair, dark hair reflects more light. If blondes are day, brunettes are night (yes, that rhymes). Another win for the dark side: Whether natural or dyed, brown and black hair appear more lustrous. "Lighter strands tend to be more hollow, absorbing light instead of reflecting it," explains colorist Bekie Raynard of San Francisco's Barrow Salon.
